How to Choose the Right Tent Size for Your Event

Tent size is one of those decisions that's easy to get wrong in either direction. A simple per-guest estimate gets you close, then a few factors fine-tune it.

Start with a per-person estimate

• Standing/mingling only: about 6 sq ft per guest
• Seated at tables (no dance floor): about 10-12 sq ft per guest
• Seated with a dance floor or stage: about 15 sq ft per guest

Then add for the extras

Buffet or bar tables, a DJ or band setup, and gift or cake tables all need their own footprint on top of guest seating. Sketch your layout before finalizing a size.

When in doubt, size up
